GLSA actions for covid 19

Dear lifesaving friends
- The past weeks the world is facing a pandemic situation which affects all countries. It is time for action for every nation, organization and individual around the world.
- The International Life Saving Federation, took a historic conscious decision to postpone the World Lifesaving Championships 2020 for the future, to guarantee everyone's safety (athletes, spectators, coaches, volunteers etc).
- The Aquatics Division of the School of Sport Science and Physical Education in the University of Athens, postponed the University Lifesaving Sport Championship 2020 for the future.
The Greek Lifesaving Sports Association was founded recently to preserve the human life through water safety and lifesaving sport activities. Therefore we feel obliged to respond in this crisis united and active. After a thorough examination of the situation, the GLSA leadership took the following decisions:
- we support the decisions that were taken by ILS and the Aquatics Division of the School of Sport Science and Physical Education in the University of Athens.
- we support the campaign of our ally, the Hellenic Olympians Association, to encourage civilians stay at home, to slow down the spread of covid 19 (more).
- we expand the timeframe of free registration for prospective Individual and Club members until the end of August, 2020 (more).
- we correspond with the Greek government that asks everyone to stay at home. To facilitate a constructive time at home, GLSA offers free e-learning education to its members in the following modules: (a) Lifesaving Sport Referee - Pool Event, (b) Lifesaving Sport Referee - Beach Events, (c) Coach Course for Lifesaving Sport - Beach Events, (d) Coach Course for Lifesaving Sport - Pool Events.
- we encourage and use remote communication (telephone, internet, email) among its members, volunteers and interested parties until further governing notice is issued.
- we will remain you informed about water safety news to keep the flame of resurrecting lifesaving sport in Greece alive.
