of Understanding for Lifesaving Sport
Bristol,
UK 1/3/2020. The leadership of the Greek Lifesaving Sports Association and the
British Universities Lifesaving Clubs' Association signed a memorandum of
understanding to promote lifesaving sport.
The British University Lifesaving Club's
Association Championship 2019, was a landmarked year for British and Greek
lifesaving sport in higher education. For first time, Greek students
participated as a team in BULSCA and two weeks later, in the inaugural Greek
University Championships. These events created a momentum that merited
recognition and expansion.
During
the closing ceremony of the annual British University Lifesaving Club's
Association Championship, the representatives of BULSCA and GLSA signed at the Hengrove
Park Leisure Centre a Memorandum of Understanding. They agreed,
among others, to recognize and support its other's efforts for advancing
lifesaving sport in higher education in every possible legitimate means. BULSCA
and GLSA will encourage the participation of university students by as many
countries as possible, to achieve internationalization of the BULSCA
championship. Finally, they will participate in each other's competitions. The
MoU was signed by Julia Whitworth (BULSCA Chair), Michael Kirkham (BULSCA Secretary), Dr. Stathis Avramidis (GLSA President) and Eleftheria Avramidou (GLSA Vice President).
