Prof. Katerina Zounhia
Sport Pedagogy Advisor 

Katerina Zounhia is a Professor of Sport Pedagody at the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport Science of the University of Athens. She holds a Bachelor of Physical Education and Sport Science and a Specialization in artistic gymnastics (National Academy of Physical Education, Thessaloniki, Greece), a PhD in Sport Pedagogy and an MSc in Physical Education (Academy of Physical Education of Warsaw, Poland). She is a Member in the Federation Internationale D’ Education Physique (national delagate), the Association Internationale des Ecoles Superieures d’ Education Physique, the European College of Sport Science, the International Society of Sport Psychology and the Polish Scientific Association of Physical Culture. She has numerous publications to her credit including books and papers in peer-reviewed journals. Her research interests include physical education teacher education, professional development of physical education teachers, effective teaching in physical education, children’s participation levels in physical activity.

Prof. Κyriakoula Μerakou
Health Education and Public Health Promotion Advisor 
Κyriakoula Μerakou is a Professor of Health Education and Promotion-Public Health. She received the Bachelor from Panteio University (1987), the MSc from the National School of Public Health (1994) and the PhD Degree from the Medical School, University of Athens (1998). Since October 1994-2018 she worked as a teaching and research associate to the National School of Public Health (Dept. of Public and Administrative Health) in Athens. She is specialized in health education and promotion and has participated in and coordinated a number of health education and health promotion programs. She has published papers in Greek and international journals, made presentations and lectures in congresses and participated in books as an author and in research project (most of them European) on health education and promotion subjects. She teaches the Health Education and Promotion course at the Dept., while has been a visitor lecturer in the University of Athens (Dept. of Preschool Education) and to Higher Technological College (Dept. of Public Health). Also, she has given many seminars for health professionals and teachers in relative issues.  kmerakou@uniwa.gr



Dr. Argyris Toubekis
Training Advisor

He fulfilled his undergraduate studies in the Department of Sport Science and Physical Education at the University of Athens. He completed post-graduate studies in the University of Loughborough (UK) and PhD in the Democretian University of Thraces. Since September 2019 he is an Associate Professor and Director at the Division of Aquatic Sports in the School of Sport Science and Physical Education at the National and Kapodistrian Universify of Athens (Greece). His research interests include the physiological responses of swimmers in training and competition settings. He has over 50 research articles published in Greek and international peer-reviewed journas. Dr. Toubekis is a founding Member of the Hellenic Society of Exercice Biochemistry and Physiology, Board Member for 3 terms and President since October 2018. Since July 2o15, he is a Member of the National Council Against Doping (ΕΣΚΑΝ). atoubekis@phed.uoa.gr

PhD in the School of Social Sciences of Aegean University. Graduate of Managment and Finances (Technological Vocational Institute of Athens), Pantion University and Sport Science-Physical Education. Teaching fellow in various institutions (ΕΚΕΠις, ΟΑΕΔ, ΕΚΔΔ, ΕΟΠΠΕΠ). He speaks English and Italian. Senior Scientific Associate Technological Vocational Institute of Athens (1988-2011). Teacher in Athens University (2000-2014). Teaching Fellow in the European Open University (2007-2008). Professor FINA (2009-2012) and LEN (2010-2012). Teacher in Vocational Training Centres. Dr. Ioanna Mastora
Fair Play Advisor
Dr. Ioanna Mastora, DipEd, BEd, MSc, PhD and Post Doc Researcher at the University of Athens is an internationally acclaimed and prolific scholar. She has 14 years of academic work (Universities of Peloponesse, Thessaloniki, Indianapolis, Police Academy, Supreme Vocational Institute of Athens). Scientific Advisior for the Athens 2004 Olympic Gamesand for the Ministry of Sports. Secretary General and CEO in the International Institute of Olympic and Sports Education. She has numerous publications to her credit. Some of them have been taught in the primary schools of the 5 continents under the auspice of the Hellenic Ministry of Education, International Olympic Committee, UNESCO, General Secretariat of Sports. She is Board Member of the National Olympic Academy, UNESCO International Dance Council. Jeremy Simatos
Nutrition Advisor
Simatosis a clinical specialist / sports dietician with basic studies on these subjects. He graduated with honors by the Department of Sport Science and Physical Education (University of Athens) and the Department of Diet-Nutrition of Charokopeio University. He took postgraduate specialization in the Department of Sport Injuries at the General Hospital of Attica (KAT) and training on applied Πληροφορική Υγείας (Pireaus University of- Research Centrer). Since 1994 he is a Basic Member of the Panhellenic Union of Dieticians and the Sports Dietitians Association Australia. He remains active member of the team of Special Sport Nutrition of the Panhellenic Union of Dieticians. He has developed a research carrier, presenting in international conferences, seminars and has published numerous papers in peer reviewed journals. His research interests lie on sports injuries, biochemistry of exercise, sports development and the athlete's development. He is the Director of the Ηellenic Sports Nutrition Research Institute) and editor of the scientific magazine Topics on Sports Nutrition Science. jeremys@otenet.gr 



Dimitrios Koukourakis
Legal Advisor
He entered the University of Athens Law School after he fulfilled his military service as Officer. He became Lawyer in 1987. Since then he works in Athens. He speaks English, German and Spanish. He is a certified instructor on scuba diving (Padi), first aid (Medic First Aid), and emergency first response for children and adults for over 25 years having trained thousands of students. dkouk@hol.gr


Dr. Rena Anagnostou
Doping Advisor 
Dr. Rena Anagnostou holds the deegres of Nursing, Sport Science and Physical Education and a PhD in Sociology of Health and Sports focusing on doping in swimming. She is a certified Lifeguard Instructor and Dive Master. She worked as therapeutical swimming coach for people with disabilities, physical educator, director, nurse and supervisor in the General Kalithea Hospital, lifeguard, lifeguard instructor, head in the Organization of Youth and Sports of Athens Municipality. She has taught applied lifeguarding, sports sociology, in Athens University and nutrition, first aid, work hygiene, anatomy and physiology in a vocational institutions. In 1990, she won gold medal in the World Goodwill Masters Games in a lifesaving sport event. She sas a member in the board of directors in EOYDA for lifesaving sport. Dr. Thodoris Mavridis
Medical Advisor 
Dr Theodoros Mavridis was born on 1987 in Athens. He graduated in 2011 from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki where he attended under the service of the Hellenic Army. In the following years serving as lieutenant military doctor in the 2nd Paratrooper Regiment he was awarded with the Parachutist Badge in addition to the certificates for “Life-guarding and Diving Medicine” and “Hyperbaric Medicine and Nursing”. For the next several years and to this day he became actively involved with the Hellenic Society of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, where he gained the title of instructor for BLS/AED (Basic Life Support and Automatic External Defibrilator), ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support), ETC (European Trauma Course), AMLS (Advance Medical Life Support), ALS/ILS (Instructor on Advanced Life Support/Immediate Life Support, as well as GIC (Generic Instructors' Course) and holds a Master’s Degree in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation”.  From 2015 he has been a neurology resident at 401 Military Hospital of Athens, 414 Army Hospital for Special Diseases and Eginition Hospital respectively while working on his PhD on spinal cord injury. mavridismdr@yahoo.gr 

Emmanouil N. Velonakis, MD, MPH, PhD
Water Microbiology Advisor 
Dr. Velonakis has a  Master of Public Health (University of London), a degree in medicine and a PhD (University of Athens). He served as a Teaching Staff at the National School of Public Health and Deputy Scientific Responsible of the Central Public Health Laboratory. He is a Member of 7 national scientific societies for AIDS, Hygiene, Epidemiology, Medicine and Microbiology. He served as a Board Member and President of the Teaching and Scientific Staff Union at the National School of Public Health. He was a Senior Lecturer in Public Health (Athens Vocational School). He was in charge of water analysis and for training the microbiology team of the Athens 2004 Olympic Games. He organized and trained scientists on microbiological examination of the sea water, in association with governing authorities, UNEP and the World Health Organization. He has dozens published studies in peer-reviewed journals, numerous lectures, conference presentations and numerous media appearances for raising public awareness. Dr. Velonakis was former Scientific Advisor of Water Microbiology (EOYDA), offered expert advice for draft lifeguard legislations and facilitated several water safety and lifesaving sport initiatives. mvelonakis@velonakis.gr
