GLSA and Consulate of Monaco met for advancing
water safety and lifesaving sport in Greece

Ψυχικό 12.6.2020. Οι εκπρόσωποι
της Ένωσης Αθλητικής Ναυαγοσωστικής Ελλάδος και του Προξενείου του Μονακό
στην Ελλάδα διερεύνησαν κοινούς τόπους δράσης για την ασφάλεια στο νερό και
την αθλητική ναυαγοσωστική στην Ελλάδα με σκοπό την μείωση των τραυματισμών
εντός και εκτός νερού.
Ο Επίτιμος Καγκελάριος του
Μονακό (Hon. Chancellor of Monaco in
Greece) στην Ελλάδα Σάμης Γκορμεζάνος υποδέχθηκε
τον Δρ.
Στάθη Αβραμίδη (Πρόεδρο ΕΑΝΕ) και την Ελευθερία
Αβραμίδου (Αντιπρόεδρο ΕΑΝΕ) στο προξενείο. Ακολούθησε συζήτηση που
περιλάμβανε τον σκοπό και το έργο της ΕΑΝΕ, το πρόβλημα των τραυματισμών στην
Ελλάδα, και τις δυνατότητες αντιμετώπισης τους με δράσεις ασφάλειας στο νερό
και αθλητικής ναυαγοσωστικής. Αναλύθηκε ο τρόπος αξιοποίησης του αθλήματος
που σώζει ζωές ως εργαλείο ψυχαγωγικής διδασκαλίας των παιδιών και
επιχειρησιακής ετοιμότητας των επαγγελματιών διασωστών.
Η συνάντηση έγινε κατόπιν
μεσολάβησης του Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation που
την τελευταία πενταετία έχει στηρίξει πλήθος δράσεων για παιδιά, φοιτητές και
ναυαγοσώστες σε συνεργασία με το έμψυχο δυναμικό της ΕΑΝΕ.
Ο Γκορμεζάνος δήλωσε:
"Διατηρώ στενές σχέσεις με το πριγκιπάτο του Μονακό. Αυτό, σε συνδυασμό
με το παρελθόν μου ως κολυμβητής και η επιθυμία μου να αφήσω ένα αποτύπωμα
κοινωνικού έργου, είναι οι αιτίες της σημερινής μας συνάντησης. Μπορούμε να
πετύχουμε αρκετά μαζί στην Ελλάδα προσεχώς."
Ο Δρ. Αβραμίδης δήλωσε:
"Είναι εντυπωσιακό που το Μονακό με την μικρότερη ακτογραμμή βοηθάει
διαχρονικά την Ελλάδα με την 11η μεγαλύτερη ακτογραμμή στην παγκόσμια
κατάταξη. Ευχαριστώ το Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation για την στήριξη
και τον Επίτιμο Πρόξενο Σάμη Γκορμεζάνο για την ευαισθησία τους στα θέματα
πρόληψης πνιγμών. Η συνάντηση μας γέμισε ελπίδα."
Η Αβραμίδου δήλωσε: "H σημερινή
συνάντηση ήταν γόνιμη. Αισιοδοξώ ότι θα μετουσιωθεί σε έργα που θα συμβάλλουν
στην πρόληψη πνιγμών. Ευχαριστούμε τον Επίτιμο Πρόξενο του Μονακό για την
ευγενική πρόσκληση και την προοπτική στήριξης της αθλητικής
ναυαγοσωστικής".

12.6.2020. Representatives of the Greek Lifesaving Sports Association and the
Consulate of Monaco assessed common areas of action for water safety and
lifesaving sport in Greece to reduce injuries in and around the water.
The Honorary Chancellor of Monaco in Greece, Sam Gormezanos, welcomed Dr. Stathis Avramidis (GLSA President)
and Eleftheria Avramidou (GLSA
Vice President) at the consulate. This was followed by a discussion that
included the aims and objectives of GLSA, aquatic injuries in Greece, and the
possibilities of dealing with them with water safety and lifesaving sport initiatives.
The way of using the sport that saves lives as a tool for entertaining
children's teaching and operational readiness of professional rescuers was further
analyzed.
The meeting was made thanks to the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation,
which in that has supported a number of activities for children, university students
and lifeguards in collaboration with GLSA's people the last 5 years.
Gormezanos said: "I have a close
relationship with the Prince's of Monaco family. This, combined with my swimming
past and desire to leave a mark on social work, are the reasons of our
meeting. We can achieve a lot together in Greece shortly."
Dr. Avramidis said: "It is impressive
that Monaco with the smallest coastline has been helping for a long time
Greece that has the 11th largest coastline in the world. I thank the Princess
Charlene of Monaco Foundation for their support and the Honorary Chancellor
of Monaco Mr. Samis Gormezanos for his sensitivity in water safety matters. Our
meeting was full of hope."
Avramidou said: "Today's meeting was
fruitful. I am optimistic that it will be transformed into projects that will
prevent drownings. We thank the Honorary Chancellor of Monaco in Greece for
the kind invitation and the prospect of supporting lifeguarding sport to
advance the level of water safety in Greece."
