The BULSCA President Ben Barker salutes the Greek Lifesaving Cup 2020
UK 24.09.2020. On behalf of all of the British University Lifesaving Clubs' Association (BULSCA), I would
like to take the opportunity to wish Stathis and his colleagues the very best
of luck with their upcoming competition on Saturday 26th September.
In the current world climate, it is an incredible achievement and a true show
of the durability and endurance of the sport which we all love. Lifesaving is
of course the sport of saving lives, not only providing unique and invaluable expertise
but also a highly demanding application of a combination of skills. For our
friends, the GLSA, it is a chance to come together at their own event where
they can begin to set a precedent for the future, with a continued growth and
success which we hope to share as partners, and even see beyond into the wider
lifesaving community. A home competition is a true turning point in developing
an organisation as a cohesive unit and I know with great engagement it will be
the envy of many lifesaving and sporting organisations. Unfortunately, despite
our very best efforts and intentions, BULSCA are unable to send a team to
compete, a decision which frustrated us. However, we know that it was the right
one that had to be made. I am already looking forward to seeing Greek
Lifesavers at our next BULSCA Student Championships and attending the next GLSA
Competition, both of which will hopefully come in 2021. Thank you.
