Dear readers

This has been a landmark year for water safety and lifesaving sport in Greece. The Greek Lifesaving Sports Association (GLSA) managed to do two things. Firstly, it continued the work that implemented successfully or attempted unsuccessfully in previous years under the umbrella of other national organizations. Secondly and more importantly, it resurrected lifesaving sport. Unlike several organizations that do a respectable work on lifeguarding and drowning prevention, none is operating lifesaving sport in Greece as alternative means of water safety. We are proud to have strengthened the hope that lifesaving sport is alive. During the first 20 days of our establishment, we had already set the circumstances, for achieving more than what was done the past 20 years for lifesaving sport. By the end of this first year, GLSA had achieved everything that could possibly be done by a new national organization. This is especially remarkable considering that 1 month after our establishment, everything was locked down due to covid-19 and by the end of this year, we are working again in isolation due to the second wave of covid-19. Literally we did what we did in only 7 out of the 11 months since our establishment. The GLSA administration presents the Annual Activity Report 2020. It contains our achievements on teaching, publicity, partnerships, training, projects, competitions, exhibitions, award presentations, scholarly work and our thanks to those that helped us. All these achievements, proved a mathematical oxymoron; 1 year merits more than 20 years!  Merry Christmas and a happy New Year! (PDF)
