Greece proudly salutes the 10th anniversary
of the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation
Monaco 14.12.2022. The Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation celebrated its 10th anniversary. It has benefited over 1 million of people, through over 510 projects in 43 countries on water safety, swimming and sports. Greece has contributed to this success, by training 20,300 and raising awareness to another 119,000 people through various means, raising the Greek Lifesaving Sports Association to the 4th place of the most productive country of this alliance in some years.
HSH Princess Charlene of Monaco created her Foundation after witnessing the devastating realities of drowning. She wanted to use sport to bring children together, because the values of sport teach compassion, inspire, give hope and unite people from all countries. During the anniversary, the PCMF invited donors, partners and personalities, in the presence of T.S.H. Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene, H.S.H. Princess Stephanie, Mr. Gareth Wittstock, Secretary General of the Foundation and H.E. Mr. Pierre Dartout, Minister of State.
The Princess said: “None of these figures, these numbers of people would ever have been reached and taught, and lives would never have been saved if it weren’t for people like you that support our vision, our dream. It is because of you who are here today, believing in what we do, and believing in me. I just want to thank you so much!”
Since 2014, Dr. Stathis Avramidis and his colleagues within various organizations (Hellenic Centre for Disease and Prevention, Hellenic Federation of Underwater Activity, Water Salvation and since 2020 the Greek Lifesaving Sports Association), have taught through the project “Safe Greece”, water safety, rescue skills, personal survival, resuscitation and lifesaving sport to 20,300 children, sport science and medical university students, general public, lifeguards, sport lifesavers and benefited another 119,000 people through media awareness with various campaigns, books and its e-magazine.
Dr Avramidis commented: "If Schindler's List was immortalized for saving 1,000 lives, the HSH Princess Charlene of Monaco's List should be appreciated more for having benefited 1,000,000 lives in over 40 countries. Words matter but deeds matter more. HSH Princess Charlene and Her foundation proved to be excellent servants of mankind! Thank you!"
