Έλενα Ανυφαντή: I am proud to represent Greece in the NLC 2025!

I am proud to represent Greece in the NLC 2025!

Being a member of Team Hellas at the Nations’ Lifesaving Cup 2025 was one of the most meaningful experiences of my athletic life. Wearing the Greek colors in the motherland of the Olympic ideals, while representing a sport whose ultimate goal is the protection of human life, filled me with pride, responsibility, and deep emotion.

Lifesaving sport is far more than competition. It is education, prevention, teamwork, and humanity in action. At NLC 2025, athletes from different nations, cultures, and backgrounds came together with a shared mission: to promote water safety and celebrate the values of rescue, discipline, and solidarity. Despite the difficulties, the Greek Lifesaving Sports Association proved that vision, sacrifice, and passion can overcome any challenge. This event happened because people believed in doing good, no matter the cost.

I competed in the 4x50m Obstacle Swim Relay, the 4x12.5m Rope Throw Relay, and the 4x50m Rescue Medley Relay, where our women’s team achieved the second place. Racing alongside my teammates and pushing our limits was unforgettable. Every relay exchange symbolized cooperation and mutual respect—values that define lifesaving.

Beyond the pool, I gained something equally precious; friendship. The bonds formed within Team Hellas and with athletes from the other countries will remain with me forever. We competed fiercely but embraced each other as one lifesaving family.

I express my gratitude to Dr Stathis Avramidis for believing in me and selecting me to represent our national team, and to Efraim Chalkias, whose guidance and co-organization were essential to both the team’s success and the event itself. Many years from now, when I will recall this event, I will say with pride to grand-children, that I was part of Hellas Team in this event that made Greece proud! Photos: GLSA.
