GIORGOS ANGELOPOULOS BECOMES A GLSA SUPPORTER

Greece 12.05.2020. The Greek Lifesaving Sports Association proudly announces the inclusion of the winner of Survivor Greece 2017 Giorgos Angelopoulos in the team of the GLSA Supporters.

Giorgos Angelopoulos said about the acceptance of his role: "Greece is a country of contradictions. Beautiful seas but with many drownings. I grew up on an island and for 25 years I have been working as water sports trainer. I have been involved in 14 drowning rescues, I respect the Divine gift of life and I understand the need to protect it. We need organizations that will make us feel safe. Recreational sports can play a key role. When I learned about the establishment of the Greek Lifesaving Sports Association, my joy was enormous. Lifesaving sport has been resurrected and must be expanded nationally as a pedagogical tool for prevention, rescue and care. It must be used as a means to stop the Greek beaches being a "place of memory" of people, who today would still be with us if there was the right information, knowledge and education. I proudly accepted the role of Supporter. I am inspired by the vision of the union of the productive forces of our homeland under the umbrella of a hospitable organization against the common enemy. I will contribute to the filling of the swimming pool and the beach with competent athletes and I will be there to applaud their success. I enlist myself in the service of the sport that saves lives on and off the water!"
