SOFIA PAPADOPOULOU OLY, BECOMES A GLSA SUPPORTER
Greece 20.02.2020. The Greek Lifesaving Sports Association proudly announces the inclusion of the Olympic winner Sofia Papadopoulou in the team of the GLSA Supporters.
Sofia Papadopoulou said about her appointment: "A lifeguard's duty is to prevent drowning
and save lives. Our duty is to support and learn by the professionals how to
act as bystanders in moments of distress. It takes a few minutes of oxygen
deprivation to cause brain damage and only seconds for a victim to submerge.
Speedy swimming and quality water rescue are paramount skills for professionals
and bystanders. This is what lifesaving sport offers in the most entertaining
and fascinating way. Because of that, I warmly support the Greek Lifesaving Sports Association that strives to make
Greece safer!”

Since then it became the home of lifesaving sport in Greece and a respected organization with national origin and international impact. We are extremely pleased to be associated with such an accomplished athlete as Sofia. Having been in her entire sporting career at sea, she has a full appreciation of the dangers that hide in the water and the value of lifesaving as means of educating people how to prevent and cope an aquatic emergency. GLSA is proud to have Sofia among the team of the GLSA Supporters."
