GLSA Male Athlete of the Year
Memorial Award "Bob Burnside"
The
GLSA Male Athlete of the Year Memorial Award "Bob Burnside" is presented to the male
adult sport lifesaver that has excelled in the below categories: (1) Won
the most medals in international, overseas and national competitions
within a year. The award is presented annually at the end of the
calendar year. The award is named after the legendary American Bob Burnside, founder of the United States Lifesaving Association and creator of the iconic "Burnside rescue can" that was used on the TV series "Baywatch". Burnside was honored by the International Swimming Hall of Fame and became a GLSA Honorary Member a few days before he passed away (more).
2020: Michalis Sousounis (2nd, 3rd, 5th, 7th, BULSCA).
2021: Michalis Glynatsis (4 golds, 1 silver Greek Cup).
2022: Pantelis Avramidis (Gold, World Masters Lifesaving Championships).
2023: Michalis Glynatsis (2nd, 3rd,
4th, 4th, 5th, 5th, 5th)
& Pantelis Avramidis (2 Golds) at the European Masters Lifesaving
Championships.
