The Greek Lifesaving Sports Association announces the "Greek Lifesaving Cup 2021". It aims to bridge public health with sports for injury protection. This year the event is dedicated to the national celebration of the 200 years of Greek Independence.

The poster presents the sport lifesaver and GLSA Supporter, Marcel Hassemeier, 4th Greatest World Games Athlete of All Times. It also shows scenes from the 1821 Greek revolution. The slogan of the competition is "Discover the hero within you!" to link the heroism of our Greek ancestors for freedom with the heroism that is required today to safe a life.

  • Judges are those that hold appropriate Certificates of Attendance here or have acquired a similar mode of study by the module "lifesaving sport" in the School of Sport Science and Physical Education in the University of Athens.

  • Those wishing to act as volunteers please inform the Head of Volunteers Efraim Chalkias (efraimxalkias@gmail.com).
  • Benefits: Certificate of participation, experiences in organizing a competition.
  • Obligations: To attend on 25-26/09/2021 at the Swimming Pool of Glyfada for assignment of duties, acquaintance with the area, and their voluntary participation. They should wear white clothing and sports shoes.

The sport lifesaver who competes as a member of a team, participates in up to 2 individual disciplinesand up to 2 relays. The athlete who competes individually without belonging to a team, participates in up to 2 individual disciplines. In the relays open men and open women, the participation of both athletes with disability and abled bodied is allowed in the same heats.

  • Lifesaving Cup "+Prof. Dimitris Hatziharistos": Presented to the largest team of young (up to 17 years aged) competitors.

    STEP 1: TERMS OF PARTICIPATION
    The Organizing Committee has the right to suspend the implementation of the "Greek Lifesaving Cup 2021" due to a potential lockdown.
    Information about the races will be available in this announcement.
    To participate in the program, you do NOT need to be a lifeguard. You MUST be a GLSA member (Clubs and Individuals may become members here at no cost).
    At the parade, athletes and coaches are asked to wear their team's sportswear and flag.
    Teams should have a "Manikin Handler" who will wear the club's uniform, for the "100m Manikin Tow with Fins".
    Entrance to the deck of the pool, MONO is allowed ONLY to athletes for the warm-up, races and the awards. After that, they must leave the pool deck immediately according to our precautions for covid-19.
    The teams that have a photographer / camera-man should declare him to the organizing committee.
    The teams will declare the name of 1 representative who will enter the pool deck only in case of objection or if requested by the organizing committee.
    The teams holds the right of use (for historical, journalistic, writing, promotion purposes) (a) of the audiovisual material of the competition (which belongs to them, hold its copyright and will be sent to the organizing committee) and (b) of the produced by the organizational commission.
    The teams are committed to sending a report (500 words, photos) for publication in the "Sport Lifesaver" e-magazine within 15 days after the competition.
    The objection fee is set at 200 euros.
    Keep all areas clean.
    Everyone is kindly requested to give their best.
    GLSA equipment (manikins, obstacles, rescue tubes) will be used.
    The fins of the competitors will be measured before the start with a "measuring tape". It doesn't matter what the construction material is. The dimensions should be a maximum of 65x30 cm.
    We are in the resurrection stage of the sport in Greece. So any mistakes we may do, we hope to be addressed with understanding by everyone involved. 
    Age groups with a few entries will be combined.
    For the participation of competitors up to 18 years old, the application is signed by a parent/guardian.
    The participants (competitors, spectators) in the "Greek Lifesaving Cup" fully understand the risks involved in their participation in the event. They are solely responsible for their physical condition and ability. The Organizing Committee is not responsible for matters relating to their health and is due to a lack of preventive medical examination in the event of injury, damage or other damage they may suffer. It is recommended that they undergo a recent medical examination before the race. Particular attention should be paid to people with any type of heart problem. The organizers will not request medical certificates for any athlete, as all participants compete solely on their own responsibility and minors under the responsibility of their guardians.
    Participants must respect / abide by the rules of the competition.
    The Organizing Committee reserves the right to change the program, terms and conditions of participation and conduct of the race, without prior notice, by posting on its website.
    Participants accept the processing of their personal data for the purposes of timing, training, and posting on the internet. The personal data of the participant, provided in the course of the application process, will be stored and used for purposes related to the conduct of the competition. With the application form, the participant agrees that his / her data is being processed for the purposes of the competition.
    Participants agree to the use of their image (video, photos) taken during the competition by the organizers, sponsors or partners of the event for publicity and future promotion, without any right to compensation for this reason.
    The organization is not responsible for the loss of personal belongings.
    Not all submitted registration forms are subject to processing. In case of incorrect data, you will have to re-register the competition form.
    The duration of the racing program is indicative. Any changes will be announced by the loudspeakers.
    Acomodation is self-booked by participants. Here is an indicative list of seveal local hotels in the Municipality of Alimos (more) and Glyfada (more).
    With the current situation, to participate will be requested a negative PCR or negative antigen test done up to 72 hours before the first day of competition. At the entry of the swimming pool you will be asked to provide the documentation and nobody may enter without it. COVID-19 antigen screening tests exclude those who present a vaccination certificate or disease certificate (issued 30 days after the first positive test and valid for up to 180 days after illness).
    When submitting the registratrion form, it is considered that you agree with the above and below terms, that you have read and fully understood. Participation in the games implies that knowing the sanctions of the provisions of par. 6 of article 22 of Law 1599/1986, the participant states that accepts the following (if he/she is a minor, the acceptance is made by a parent / guardian): (1) I participate as a competitor with my will. (2) I know the rules of the games and I fully accept them. (3) I have undergone the necessary medical examinations and have the necessary cardiological examination. I do not have any health problems. (4) I expressly and unconditionally renounce any claim and claim against the organizers, judges, volunteers, sponsors, public authorities and anyone involved in organizing the games, in case of bodily or other damage or injury that may occur to me before, during or after the races. (5) The organizers and stakeholders are fully relieved of any responsibility for any problems and damage or loss that occurs before, during and after the end of the games to the athletes and spectators and is due to my fault and in this case I fully undertake responsibility. (6) I allow the organizers to use my personal information (name, photos, recordings and all audiovisual recording), to promote games / sponsors in the media / social media.


    STEP 2: CONTRACT BETWEEN PARTICIPATION
    • Group Registration: The team representative makes 1 bank transaction for EVERYONE. This includes the Team Fee and the Individual Fee for each competitor. Place write in the transaction the name of the group and the "Cup" string (eg GROUP_CUP).
    • Registration of individual competitors: The above procedure is followed for themselves and individual competitors who do NOT belong to a team and will compete only in individual disciplines. They pay the Individual Fee (30 euros) by writing their name in the bank transaction (eg S.AVRAMIDIS_CUP).
    • Bank deposit: Piraeus Bank. Beneficiary: Greek Lifesaving Sports Association (GLSA) or in Greek Ένωση Αθλητικής Ναυαγοσωστικής Ελλάδος (ΕΑΝΕ). Account number: 6578-1476-3092-5, IBAN: GR 81-0171-5780-0065-7814-7630-925. Transaction costs from a different bank are paid by the depositor (OUR Expenses). The event will not allow those who do not deposit the net amount plus transaction costs to participate. GLSA will not cover the amount of interbank expenses and the participation will not be valid. If you transfer money and do not wish to participate, no refund will be given.

    STEP 3: PARTICIPATION STATEMENT
    • Not everyone participates in all races. Before completing the registration form, make sure that your age group is competing in that particular discipline (see "Program" above).
    • The registration for each individual athlete is done electronically here.
    • The registration system will be open until 15/09/2021. No application will be accepted after this date. If you do NOT follow the procedure above, the Organizing Committee is not responsible for the failure of the registration.
