Students and teachers get educated through

“Erasmus” and “Safe Greece”

Karditsa, 3.5.2022. The 170 students and teachers of 5 countries (Poland, Romania, Italy, Bulgaria, Greece) were impressed that, through the Erasmus+ programme (under the auspices of the European Union) and the “Safe Greece” project (under the auspices of the Greek LifeSaving Sports Association and supported by the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation), they acquired knowledge on water safety and lifesaving sport.

Since 2021, the Leondari Junior High School (Greece), Santa Teresa di Riva (Italy), Montana (Bulgaria), Legnica (Poland) and Scoala Gimnaziala “Grigore Moisil” (Romania) take part in the Erasmus+ Programme “Students Together Ambitiously Reach the Stars”.

Their fascinating educational European journey came to an end at the Leondari junior highschool (2-6/5/2022). It gave a unique experience to students and educators in a multicultural educational context, it improved language skills, created friendships and bridges of communication and positive interaction, and enriched their knowledge on domains beyond the programme.

In 3/5, at the Leondari junior highschool, everyone attended part of the “Safe Greece” project, which is realized in Greece, from the Greek LifeSaving Sports Association and supported by the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation. The presentation was held by the head of Education and the Principal of the Leondari Primary School, Ioannis Dimakopoulos. The presentation included water safety issues, introduction with sport lifesaving, videos from Sport LifeSaving Cups and simulation training for emergencies.

The participants were excited and their journey came to an end with the best impressions, new information and ideas. This was evident from the prolonged applause and the flattering statements of the municipal authorities (Deputy Mayor of Education of Sofades Municipality, Deputy Mayor of Green of Sofades Municipality, President of Leondari community, President of Parents and Guardians Association, President of Leondari cultural association), the 20 educators and 150 students of 5 countries. Everyone is looking forward to a future meeting, which will include the implementation of the GSLA programmesin other countries the next school year The GSLA thanks wholeheartedly the Headmaster of Leondari junior highschool, Mr. Charalabos Barbarousis for the beautiful educational experience and all the participants.
