The GLSA Greek Lifesaving Cup 2023
at Athens University with international participation
Athens 03.07.2023. The Greek Lifesaving Sports Association announces the Greek Lifesaving Cup that will give international and academic character to the sport that saves lives.
The championships will take place at the School of Sport Science and Physical Education (SSSPE) of Athens University (Dafni, Saturday 14/10/2023). It is open for international participants. The event includes opening ceremony, salutations, parade, athlete's oath, and competition in swimming, lifesaving and first aid events. Participants should be GLSA members. The participants will compete in various age groups. Participation medals, winning medals and fair play awards will be given.
GLSA is a certified organization by the General Secretariat of Sports and the only organization that organizes by constitution lifesaving championships in Greece. The event is supported by the following national and international organizations: Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation, International Swimming Hall of Fame, International Federation of Swimming Teachers’ Association, International Life Saving Federation, International Life Saving Federation of Europe, Mediterranean Lifesaving Confederation, Hellenic Olympic Winners Association, Hellenic Olympians Association, Hellenic Swimming Federation, SSSPE-Athens University.
The GLSA President, Dr. Stathis Avramidis, said: "Our efforts at national and world level, found followers and imitators. This cup has a great symbolism because it will take place in one of the very few universities in the world that offer lifesaving sport as academic module welcoming Greek and international competitors!"
