“Safe, Pick, Run”: Overview and Impact
Volos, Greece 5-15.05.2025. The youth exchange awareness project “Safe, Pick, Run” that was orchestrated by the GLSA and the CNBA with the support of the European Union had the following overview and impact:
Overview
The project involved the integration of lifesaving sport and plogging, environmental workshops, practical lifesaving and first aid training, community cleanup initiatives, creative media projects for environmental advocacy, cultural exchange and team building, project showcase and dissemination event.
The project engaged 42 participants, including team leaders aged 18-26, and 2 facilitators from Greece and Serbia. The participants had a diverse mix of backgrounds, experiences, and skills. Targeted individuals included those passionate about environmental issues, physical health, and community service from various cultural and educational backgrounds, including students, young professionals, and volunteers. The project engaged different levels of experience in sport and environmental activities, from novices to more skillful, to facilitate peer learning and exchange. Mobility included 15 participants with fewer opportunities from different backgrounds.
Impact
The project was set to deliver substantial outcomes and lasting impacts to the society, grounded in its fundamental goals of fostering environmental stewardship, enhancing youth's physical and safety skills, and nurturing a sense of community and global citizenship.
