Erasmus+ project
"Reverse the Odds":
Preventing Youth Gambling (day 1)
Nis, Serbia 19.08.2025. During the first day of the training of the Erasmus+ project "Reverse the Odds", the course leaders welcomed the participants introduced the program, and worked on the e-guide.
Introduction
The project runs between 2024-2026, among 4 organizations;
Germany (Verbund sozial-kultureller Migrantenvereine Dortmund e.V.) as a
coordinator and Lithuania (PSA), Serbia (City of Nis Debate Club),
and Greece (Greek Lifesaving Sports Association) as partners. Each organization contributes expertise in youth work, training, or addiction prevention. This
project addresses the increasingly problem of youth engagement in online
gambling and its associated risks. The significant rise in access to online
casinos, sports betting, and other gambling activities in recent years,
especially via mobile apps, poses a serious threat to the emotional, financial,
and social well-being of young people.

Results
The project leaders trained 16 specialists to work with youth on how to recognize, prevent, and respond to gambling risks. They developed digital methods for working with youth and how to create an e-guide. Lastly, they prepared a set of recommendations for municipal youth policy based on research and practical activities results. Follow updates with the hashtag: #ReverseTheOdds
