The Hellenic Ministry of Education approved the program "Charlie the savior" that was inspired by Baywatch
Greece 1o.3.2021. The Hellenic Ministry of Education approved the teaching at schools of the International Water Safety Program "Charlie the savior".
In 1997, young Charlie Hayes, asked his mother to see the set of the world's #1 TV series Baywatch. This was his last wish as he was suffering from terminal cancer. His wish came true. He met the legendary creator, director and producer, Greg Bonann. The love he received extended his life for a few months.
The program is inspired by this touching story. The young readers get a Certificate of Accomplishment. It is distributed freely to serve the mission of the U.N. Friends of Drowning Prevention Group and every organization that strives to make our planet safer.
Bonann commented: "Because of Charlie I realized the huge impact that our show was having around the world. We had an obligation that Baywatch would stay special. Stathis' touching tale hopefully may save many children from drowning!"
The Hall of Fame honoree creator of the program, Dr. Stathis Avramidis, officer of the National Public Health Organization, Lifesaving Sport Teacher in the University of Athens and President of the Greek Lifesaving Sports Association, said: "We are happy that the program was accepted by the government. Now it is time for the educators to implement it. Its application will save lives."
The program of the Greek Lifesaving Sports Association is endorsed by the following organizations; International Swimming Hall of Fame, International Life Saving Federation, Royal Life Saving Society Commonwealth, International Federation of Swimming Teachers' Association, A Chance for Children Foundation, World Open Water Swimming Association and International Water Safety Foundation that operate in 100+ countries.
The program (reg no. Φ.2.1/ΕΧ/28395/Δ7/10-3-2021), aims to educate children on water safety and lifesaving sport.

Το Υπουργείο Παιδείας ενέκρινε το εμπνευσμένο από το Baywatch πρόγραμμα "Τσάρλι ο διασώστης
Ελλάδα 10.03.2021. Το Υπουργείο Παιδείας ενέκρινε την υλοποίηση του Διεθνούς Εκπαιδευτικού Προγράμματος Ασφάλειας στο Νερό "Τσάρλι ο διασώστης" της Ένωσης Αθλητικής Ναυαγοσωστικής Ελλάδος σε όλα τα σχολεία.
To 1997, ο νεαρός Charlie Hayes, ζήτησε από την μαμά του να τον πάει στα γυρίσματα της #1 παγκοσμίως τηλεοπτικής σειράς Baywatch. Ήταν η τελευταία του ευχή. Είχε καρκίνο τελικού σταδίου. Η ευχή έγινε πράξη. Συνάντησε τον θρυλικό δημιουργό, σκηνοθέτη και παραγωγό, Greg Bonann. H αγάπη που έλαβε επιμήκυνε την ζωή του λίγους μήνες.
Το πρόγραμμα εμπνεύστηκε από αυτή την συγκινητική ιστορία. Οι αναγνώστες λαμβάνουν Βεβαίωση Επίτευξης. Διανέμεται δωρεάν για να ενισχύσει το U.N. Friends of Drowning Prevention Group και κάθε οργανισμό που προσπαθεί να κάνει τον πλανήτη ασφαλή.
Ο Βοnann δήλωσε: "Εξαιτίας του Τσάρλι συνειδητοποίησα την τεράστια επιρροή της τηλεοπτικής μας σειράς στον κόσμο. Είχαμε χρέος να διατηρήσουμε το Baywatch ξεχωριστό. Το συγκινητικό παραμύθι του Στάθη ελπίζω να σώσει πολλά παιδιά από πνιγμό!"
Ο 2 φορές βραβευμένος στο Hall of Fame δημιουργός του προγράμματος, Δρ. Στάθης Αβραμίδης, Στέλεχος του ΕΟΔΥ, Δάσκαλος Αθλητικής Ναυαγοσωστικής του ΤΕΦΑΑ -ΕΚΠΑ και Πρόεδρος της Ένωσης Αθλητικής Ναυαγοσωστικής Ελλάδος, είπε: "Είμαστε χαρούμενοι που το πρόγραμμα αγκαλιάστηκε από την πολιτεία. Τώρα είναι η σειρά των εκπαιδευτικών να το υλοποιήσουν. Η εφαρμογή του θα συμβάλει στην μείωση των πνιγμών."
Το πρόγραμμα της Ένωσης Αθλητικής Ναυαγοσωστικής Ελλάδος είναι εγκεκριμένο από τους οργανισμούς International Swimming Hall of Fame, International Life Saving Federation, Royal Life Saving Society Commonwealth, International Federation of Swimming Teachers' Association, A Chance for Children Foundation, World Open Water Swimming Association και International Water Safety Foundation που δραστηριοποιούνται σε 100+ χώρες.
Σκοπός του προγράμματος (αρ. πρωτ. Φ.2.1/ΕΧ/28395/Δ7/10-3-2021), είναι η επιμόρφωση των παιδιών στην ασφάλεια στο νερό και την αθλητική ναυαγοσωστική.
