GIORGIO QUINTAVALE INDUCTED
AS A GLSA HONORARY MEMBER
Greece 28.05.2021. The Greek Lifesaving Sports Association proudly announces the induction of Giorgio Quintavale from Italy as a GLSA Honorary Member.
Giorgio Quintavale said upon his induction: “The history and culture of Italy and Greece have common roots that go back to ancient times and it is always a pleasure for an Italian to forge links with new Greek friends. On this particular occasion the pleasure is enhanced because there is another element of communion: “LIFESAVING”. Lifesaving is a large circle with the planet earth in the center and the love of water, life, safety, sport, brotherhood, freedom and equality along the circumference. We, the members of this great family, are the rays that bind the center to the circumference. It is therefore an honor to know that such old and important friends have thought of welcoming me into their Association. All my best thoughts go to the Greek Lifesaving Sport Association for building a bright future in the world of Lifesaving.”
Giorgio Quintavalle was born in Italy in 1972. His life was always linked with the world of swimming and rescue. Graduated in Political Science and then with postgraduate studies in Philosophy and Law, already in 1992 he founded the Sports Association which, over the years, became the basis on which to build the successes of the Red Frogs; the team that was 6 times world champions in the pool (2008, 2010, 2012, 2014, 2016, 2018) and composed by the best athletes ever. His path within the Italian Swimming Federation started long time ago. He is a member of the regional sport commission in 1998, a member of the Italian National Sport Commission in 2008, a Team Manager of the Italian National Team in 2011, the Italian Lifesaving National Coordinator in 2018 and President of the Italian Lifesaving Section in 2021. Even outside the borders of his country, Georgio’s commitment has grown over time. He is a member of the ILSE Sport Commission since 2010 and of the ILS Sport Commission since 2012. Giorgio is also an ILSE and ILS Board Member since 2012 and the European Vice President since 2021.
The GLSA President, Dr. Stathis Avramidis, said: “Giorgio is one of those people whose fame travels ahead of them. He enjoys the respect of everyone among the lifesaving community. So it was pure nature for the GLSA committee to induct him as an Honorary Member. He is passionate, dedicated, successful and has a great potential to go high and far. The international lifesaving sport family is lucky to have such a competent and loyal servant. We, the GLSA, are proud to enlist Giorgio’s name among our greats!”
