Greek Lifesaving Cup 2021:
Αuspice of Committee “Greece 2021” -Support of 12 important organizations
Athens 14.07.2021. The Greek Lifesaving Sports Association announces the Greek Lifesaving Cup and invites everyone to participate in the festive celebration of the 200 years of Greek Independence, by competing in the sport that saves lives.
The championships will take place in the Glyfada Sports Nautical Club on 26/09/2021. The event will include opening ceremony with reception speeches by representatives of ally - organizations, parade, athlete's oath, and competition in pool events. Participants should be GLSA members (individuals and clubs may become members at no cost here). The participants will compete in age groups. Participation medals, winning medals and fair play awards will be given.
The championships are dedicated to a mass drowning episode that took place during the 1821 Greek Revolution, and will take place under the auspice of the Committee “Greece 2021”.
GLSA is a certified organization by the General Secretariat of Sports. The event is supported by 12 important national and international organizations (Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation, International Swimming Hall of Fame, International Federation of SwimmingTeachers’ Association, Hellenic Olympic Winners Association, Hellenic Navy Seals, Make the Minute Matter, British Universities' Lifesaving Club Association, Hellenic Olympians Association, Institute of International Law, Economics and Social Studies & Studies in Greece, Hellenic Swimming Federation, Hellenic Water Polo Coaches Association, Academy Society and Sports.
The GLSA President, Dr. Stathis Avramidis, said: "Last year we resurrected lifesaving sport in Greece and pioneered internationally with the inclusion of people with disabilities in the championships. This year we celebrate the bicentennial Greek Revolution and the event will have a festive spirit. Nobody should be absent this year from this event that will include pleasant surprises!"
