Waterwomen cross the Pacific for sport,

water safety and cancer prevention activities

 

Piraeus 08.03.2022. The Yacht Club of Greece hosted the presentation of the “Cap Optimist: Monaco – Athens” 2023 expedition. It is a sporting, human and solidarity adventure of 1900 Km towards a new world record that will assist sporting, water safety and cancer educational programs for vulnerable children.

 

The presentation was made in an enthusiastic spirit. The logistics of the expenditure were explained by Stephanie Gayer Barneix and her team. They asked everyone to buy 1km with 100 euro. All the money will be distributed to support vulnerable children in sport, water safety and cancer education activities of Cap Optimist, Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation (PCMF) and Elpida Association of Friends of Children with Cancer (EAFCC).

 


The event was attended by invited guests. These included Pascal Granero (PCMF General Manager), Dr. Stathis Avramidis (GLSA President), Eleftheria Avramidou (GLSA Vice President), Samis Gormezanos (Honorary Chancellor of Monaco in Greece), Yiannis Moralis (Mayor of Pireaus), Panagiotis Fasoulas (FIBA Hall of Fame), Melina Daskalaki (EAFCC Board Member), Kostas Tsouvelekakis (entrepreneur), Pavlos Efthymiou (Executive Director of the Hellenic Entrepreneurs Association among others.

 


Pascal Granero thanked the waterwomen for their initiative and presented the activities of the PCMF that has impacted positively about 900,000 people (mainly children) in dozens of countries.



The six water women say that “we all have oceans to cross”. United with can make a difference. As an organization that implements water safety activities with the support of the PCMF in Greece, the Greek Lifesaving Sports Association congratulated and thanked the 6 water women for their kind initiative and services to humanity.
