Drowning prevention at the Arsakio-Tositsio School of Ecali
Ekali 29.03.2023. Students and teachers of the Arsakio-Tositsio School of Ecali were taught survival, water safety, swimming and lifesaving sport techniques.
The teaching took place in two sessions. In the first, 200 students were taught the International Water Safety Program “Charlie the savior”. In the second, another 240 students and teachers were introduced or practiced on lifesaving and swimming. Students, teachers and administration of the school expressed enthusiasm and appreciation for these experiences.
The teaching is supported by the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation through the project “Safe Greece”, by the International Swimming Hall of Fame through the program “Every Child A Swimmer” and by the European Union through the co-funded “Lifesaving Network”.
Teacher was Dr. Stathis Avramidis, President of the Greek Lifesaving Sports Association, a non-profit organization that was founded in memory of 3 relatives that lost their lives at sea. It is a member of the International Life Saving Federation, the International Life Saving Federation of Europe, the Mediterranean Lifesaving Confederation, partner of the Lifesaving Network, and ally of the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation and the International Swimming Hall of Fame.
