"Safe, Pick, Run": Lifesaving Sport and Ecology through Erasmus+
Volos, Greece 5-15.05.2025. Co-funded by the European Union, the GLSA and the CNBA, raised awareness to 42 youth of 6 countries on lifesaving sport and coastal ecology through the exchange awareness project “Safe, Pick, Run”.
The participating organizations were: GLSA (Greece), City of Nish Basketball Association (Serbia), UKS Lumaro (Poland), Kızılelma Sports Club (Turkey), Pagėgiai (Lithuania), Vidin Fund (Bulgaria).
Activities
The R.S.P. initiative was a series of interconnected activities designed to enhance environmental stewardship, promote physical health, teach lifesaving skills, and foster community engagement. This initiative provided a holistic learning experience by merging non-formal education with physical exercise and hands-on environmental conservation. It targeted a diverse group of young people, ensuring the project benefits from a wide array of perspectives and experiences. In summary, it changed lives by opening minds!
Objectives
The “Save, Run, Pick” (SRP) project envisaged to fusing the adrenalin-pumping world of lifesaving sport with the eco-conscious activity of plogging, creating a powerful blend aimed at promoting both environmental stewardship and physical health among youth. This innovative alliance seeks to nurture a generation that is not only physically fit and proficient in lifesaving techniques but also passionately committed to environmental preservation and community service. Through the lens of youth work practice, the project's goals were to equip participants with life skills, foster personal development, and encourage a positive societal contribution.

organizing organizations and the European Union.
